How to Set Up IPTV on an Android Box
Setting up an Android TV or Google TV box takes about ten minutes. You’ll get a model-specific guide with your login, but these are the steps.
Connect the box to your router
Plug an Ethernet cable from your router into the box. If a cable isn’t practical, use your router’s 5 GHz Wi-Fi network rather than 2.4 GHz.
Install system updates
On Android TV and Google TV boxes, open Settings → System → About → System update. Updates fix bugs and keep video decoders current.
Install an IPTV player
Search Google Play for the player we recommend in your welcome message and install it. On boxes without Play Store access, use the download link we send instead.
Enter your login and load the guide
Choose Xtream Codes login or M3U playlist, enter your details and wait a minute while channels, the TV guide and the films library load.
Set up favourites
Add the channels you watch most to a favourites group, and set the player to open on start-up if your box allows it. Your box now behaves like a normal TV box.

IPTV on MAG and Formuler Boxes
MAG boxes (made by Infomir) and Formuler boxes work differently from Android boxes. Instead of installing an app, they connect to a portal: a server address that is linked to your box’s unique MAC address.
How MAG box setup works
Find the MAC address on the sticker underneath the box (MAG addresses start with 00:1A:79) and send it to
us when you order. We link it to your subscription and send you a portal URL. On the box, open
Settings → Servers → Portals, enter the portal URL, save and restart. Your channels and TV guide load
automatically.
Formuler boxes with MyTVOnline
Formuler boxes use the MyTVOnline app, which supports portal logins as well as Xtream Codes. Add a new portal in MyTVOnline with the details we send you. Tell us your model, and we’ll send the right steps for your box.
IPTV Box Buying Mistakes to Avoid
Shopping for a new box? These are the five mistakes we see most often from UK customers.
- Old Android versions. Boxes still on Android 7 to 9 no longer get security updates, and many current player apps are dropping support for them.
- Inflated spec sheets. Unbranded boxes often claim “8K” or huge memory on budget chips. Look for Google TV or Android TV certification instead of big numbers.
- Wi-Fi only. A box without an Ethernet port loses the main advantage of a box over a stick. A wired port is the biggest stability upgrade you can buy.
- No HEVC (H.265) support. Modern 4K streams use HEVC to save bandwidth. Check the chipset decodes HEVC, and ideally AV1, so 4K plays smoothly.
- “Fully loaded” boxes. Boxes sold with pre-installed apps promising free channels are often unlicensed and can carry malware. Buy a clean box from a mainstream retailer.

Can I use a box without the Google Play Store?
Yes. Many boxes sold without Play Store access can still install an IPTV player from a download link in the web browser or a downloader app. We send the right link for your box with your login.
How much storage does an IPTV box need?
